About Us
Beacon of Hope and Joy (BOHJ) rescues orphans and vulnerable children in Zimbabwe by bringing hope to them through access to education, better health and a more dignified life. BOHJ embraces God's love and hope for a child in dire need through educational assistance, spiritual nourishment, and developing life and leadership skills.
We strongly believe in empowering these young lives with education and knowledge, opening the shutdown world from them and creating more opportunities to realize their dreams. In addition to bringing hope to the children, BOHJ hopes to team up with the communities where these children live with self-help projects that will enable the guardians to be self-sufficient. BOHJ is a Christian organization which provides educational opportunities for children of all race, gender, disabilities, and religious affiliation.
Our Goals
The physical meets such needs as food, clothing, blankets, shoes, school supplies, tuition (school fees), medicine, clean water, just to name a few. The spiritual is met by counseling sessions, responding to the children’s spiritual needs. This is achieved through engaging the children in clubs that encourage children to stay pure or be abstinent until they get married. Most of the children in this program stay with their grandparents since most of the parents died prematurely many of them due to Aids.
Our main priority is to fight against illiteracy by finding sponsors for these children to help them get out of herding cattle during school days and send them off to school. Education is the key to success. It will open and sharpen their minds, preparing them for a brighter future, where the cycle of poverty will be eradicated. We see our future leaders of society in most of these children, if only they can be given a chance to become who they desire to be.
